Beliefs

The word ‘Church’ refers not just to buildings but also to groups of people who gather together because of their shared faith and beliefs. So to describe “the Church” in Paul it is necessary to talk about who we are and what we believe -

As Christians we believe in a powerful, compassionate, loving, and supportive Creator God, who cares for each one of us, and wants us to care for each other.

We believe that God revealed himself fully in the person of Jesus Christ. whose life, death and resurrection holds the key to knowing and loving God, and to making sense of life, before and after death.

And we believe that God is alive and active today as His Spirit continues to inspire justice and truth, change lives and transform society.

There's obviously much more to it than that, but in the end what It all comes down to is seeking to deepen our relationship with God through Jesus Christ, and trying to follow the way that Jesus taught by living unselfish lives, helping and considering others and standing up for what is right.

Christianity is also about relationship and community, and here at Paul we particularly believe in building a community where no one feels excluded because of who they are or because of where they are in their journey of faith. We are all different and at different places spiritually - but respecting our differences we can journey together: celebrating our joys, sharing our sorrows, and seeking to discover and learn about God’s love and glory together.

We don't always get it right, but we believe that God will help us when we ask Him to, and will forgive us when we acknowledge we have got it wrong……….so we keep on trying.

Dear Lord, Help us to

do all the good we can

by all the means we can

in all the ways we can

in all the places we can

at all the times we can

to all the people we can

as long as ever we can.

Amen

Dear God

Help me today to

know you more clearly,
Love you more dearly,
and follow you more nearly.

In Jesus name

Amen
